Week 3 Social Listening blog (walmart)

The company I decided to use was Walmart.  Its one of the biggest comapanies in the world and it seems like someone always has something to say about it.

I was scrolling trough instagram under the tag topic "#Walmart" and one of the post consisted of an individual absolutely going off on Walmart.  They said Walmart sells super cheap, poisonous products to customers.  This specific post is mainly targeting Walmarts food products and produce.

There are many posts also consisting of bad/ unfair wages and bad treatment towards there employees.  Walmarts always had a bad history of this kind of thing with there employees.  There was a california case, the NLRB concluded in 2016 that Walmart took illegal action against employees.  Walmart broke the law when it punished its workers for excercising their federally protected right to peaceful protest.

I dont believe that Walmart is trying to do anything in specific that is "remarkable".   The same issues that were prominant in the past for this company are apparently still very well alive.  Walamrt seems to still have the exact same goal, expand and conquer.

Walmart being one of the biggest companies in the entire country they dont need to do much for mareting, everyone already knows who they are.  My 83 year old grandmother knows exactly what walmart is.  There main ways of marketing are just your typical wide spread tactics.  They use commercials on tv, social media, billboards, and eCommerce websites.  Companies this size are always just trying to get the one up on the competitor rather than just getting there name out there.  They are always coming out with something that is slightly different than the competitor and they absolutely market the hell out of it, letting everyone know how there new unique thing is one of a kind and much better than there competitors.

There was a protest/15 day strike from the warehouse workers in California.  They went un strike because of unsafe working conditions and after the 15th day they returned to work after winning safety improvements on the job.
